Hey Readers,
I started Buyside Hustle to share what I have learned throughout my career in the finance world. When I was a young college student and in the early years of my career, I noticed there were not any real resources out there for those looking for general finance career advice.
Yes there are obviously forums and pages that you can read from other websites, but what I really needed was someone who had already experienced the pains of working on Wall Street. I wanted to learn from someone who has been in the trenches of investment banking, broke into the buyside, and experienced everything there was about a true finance career.
I wanted to learn from the elites, the so called “Gods of Finance,” the guys who made it and were living the dream.
Some background about myself
I definitely would not consider myself anything close to being one of the “Gods of Finance.” I will leave that label to all the private equity and hedge fund billionaires out there.
I grew up middle class in a simple household where both parents worked for the government making <$100K for most of my life early on. They had absolutely no knowledge of finance or investing, so naturally I had to look elsewhere later on in life to learn about the industry. It wasn’t until late in college when I realized that I wanted to start my career in investment banking.
After graduating from a target school, I started my career in mergers & acquisitions at an investment bank at one of the so called “elite” firms (i.e. think Goldman, Morgan Stanley, Lazard, Evercore, JP Morgan, etc.). After a few years of slaving as an analyst, I decided it wasn’t for me longer term and worked hard to transition to the buyside.
I was fortunate to get a job at a multi-manager hedge fund and so I quit banking to start my career on the “promise land.” Who would have known that after just one year I would quit. Despite having the potential to make ~$500K in a good year, it just was not for me.
I left to join the distressed investing world where the investment style is completely different. The rest is history and I have loved every minute of it since.
For a more in-depth version of my background, you should read My Life Story – How it All Started.

Why should you listen to an anonymous blogger?
I stay anonymous because 1) I hate attention and 2) it is the best way for me to be completely honest with all of you.
Trust me, I know many of you may say this guy is not real and has never worked on Wall Street a day in his life, but I could simply care less. Feel free not to read anything that I write.
I write simply because I enjoy reflecting on what I have learned and feel the need to help others work through their careers without making the same mistakes I did along the way.
